A good one for the 'Maintenance & Repair' section IMHO is www.bicycletutor.com . This is US-based, but none the worse for that - very clear and concise video and text instruction on all maintenance aspects. I tend to use this site and the repair section on the Park Tool website (already listed) to get me on my way.

A couple of links that you might like to add to the list are:
Charities section - Action Medical Research offer a series of challenge rides throughout the UK. Cyclists taking part are asked to raise as much as they can to help find ways to prevent life threatening diseases and disabilities that affect babies and children.
Another that might be useful is for the Route Tracking section is Map My Tracks; a clever website that allows you to use your mobile phone to track your rides and upload them to the website where you can replay them and compare rides too.

Charity - The Environmental Justice Foundation (protecting people and Planet) They are entering their 2nd year of campaigning to raise awareness of the issues of child labour and the draining of the Aral Sea for cotton irrigation. This year's Great Fashion Cycle (London to Paris) promoted 'pick your cotton carefully' and saw riders of all ages and abilities with a fashion eco-conscience taking to the saddle in style! Hi Simon, if you have time would you take a look at this website,http://www.communityfix.co.uk/. I have found it useful for reporting a broken traffic light, and can be used to report other street faults such as potholes etc. When a report is logged a copy is passed to your local authority, and you can even add a photo if you need.

Isn't the technical issue whether its safer with or without, regardless of what speed the helmet happens to protect you at ? So they don't protect you at 30mph hitting a car, but they do protect you when you fall off embarrasingly when you forget to…
It's always worth being reminded of the dangers on the road but the thing is, I get rather p***d off with the media jumping on these sorts of bad news stories. When was the last time you read anything good about cycling??

It has been proved that helmets only protect the head in an accident where you or the car is traveling less than 13mph. (see CTC website). Furthermore, independent research shows that drivers actually give a wider bert…
