Planning a 6 month tour

At long last my house sale is about to go through exchanging contracts tomorrow and out by Friday. I'll be giving Thorn a call during the week to ensure that their Sherpa frame will be able to carry the weight for a self supported tour as the smaller frames are made in smaller gauge tubing. I saw the attached picture in a Crazyguyonabike blog which one me over !!

Itching for a proper ride

The commuting year has started poorly only 2 days out of 4, 50% compared to 221 from 226 last year 97.8%. Traveled by bus to work on two days and got a lift back, at least I feel vindicated in not riding having experienced the bus snaking all over the road and clipping the kerbs on numerous occasions, with the bus getting stranded this morning at the Haddenham and Thame Parkway station. A number of colleagues have had knocks in their cars with the repair bills to match.

I've spent an hour on an… Continue

Back up and running again !!

I've not been able to partake on this site for a while due to Flash/Javascript issues on my Ubuntu 9.04 PC. Fortunately since upgrading to 9.10 and after numerous searches on Ubuntu and Ning forums seems to be resolved for now anyway.

Cycling wise my Ankylosing Spondylitus is in remission again so I'm able to ride free of pain again, just in time for the winter months !! I've decided to go for a Bob Jackson 631 World Tour frame for my tourer and looking to set off for the Manli - Leh highway ei… Continue

Rough time...

For the past few weeks I've been having a bit of a rough time. I stopped cycling just over 20 years ago due to back problems which was diagnosed a few years later as a hereditary condition called Ankylosing Spondilitus (AS for short). I started getting blinding headaches a few weeks ago from pains in my neck when riding, originally I thought it might caused by my position on the bike, although unlikely as I had not had any problems over the previous few months. Then a couple of weekends ago I ha… Continue

Excellent Day - Benson Vintage Cycle Rally

Excellent day today, warm but not too hot, helped by a fair bit of cloud. Cycled out to watch the Benson Vintage Cycle Rally with a couple of colleagues from work covering 62 miles in total. Some of the vintage cycles on display were superb in particular a number of Penny Farthings, Bone Shakers and Dursley Pedersons, refer to photos.

Tim you would of been in your element.

Returned home to watch Cavendish sprint to glory in the 2nd stage of the Tour De France, what a finish !!

Hi there, Tim is fine. He has been very busy with finding a new job, but he is still around. He is probably skulking around in the background somewhere.. I'll be speaking to him later and will pass on that he's being missed.
Keep well,
Simon

I've not been on here much either. Shall I see you there at 8:45am and see which ride we feel like doing?

Hello!
How are you? No doubt still getting out on your bike. I did the 70m Cotswold ride a couple of weeks ago and barely been out since. The Tour de Vale has been rescheduled for this Sunday, 12th. Are you going to be around for it? I'm not sure I'm up for the 55 mile, although probably could be persuaded. Let me know and I'll meet you there. think the weather's going to be ok for this Sunday!

That's odd that you didn't get anything from them, mine came about 3 days after I sent the form off!
Ok, I'll be there around 9, probably before - I get everywhere early!
See you then

Hello!
Hope you're ok.
What time do you want to meet at the Guttmann on Sunday?
At least the weather will be cooler by then.

Hi,
Charity ride all done then, went ok?
30th is now officially over and culminated with an engagement whilst in Rome, so a very happy ending to a busy month.
I've filled out my form for the Tour de Vale, it'll be posted tomorrow. I should be out on Sunday with the CTC, will probably depend on the weather though!

Hi,
I was thinking it would be good to do around the 40+ mark tomorrow. Don't mind where, so GPS away!! Shall we say 10 at Aqua Vale? Half 9 is a tad too unsocial for me!!

Hi,
How are you? Been getting the miles in, I see! I had a really good b'day thanks and it's not over yet. Out again tomorrow night and I'm being taken to Rome next weekend!
I have been out on the bike again though, did 30 miles on Monday. I was thinking about going out this Sunday, the weather looks really good. Are you out on Sunday at all?
Later, Les

Chains stretch, for sure. A tension tool like this will show the wear, and you can find out about tensioners at Charlie the Bikemonger - the tugs / tensioners are toward the bottom of the page. Ham

I believe you can share your courses, workouts and saved rides wirelessly with other Edge 705 users, but I can't comment on this as I'm the only person I know with the 705 so haven't tried it out! I also like maps and invariably carry a paper map w…

Ah-ha - so that's what was wrong with my 305! Garmin replaced though, no trouble. I confess for a fondness for paper maps, and since finding these on the Dunwich Dynamo, they are my favourite touring maps, with a map carrier velcroed to the bars.
