I had a 205 which failed after 2 years and then brought 605. I believe that the 205/305 both have issues with the battery connectors losing tension and the units randomly switching off mid ride. This happened to me and drove me mad. The 605 looks mu…
HR unusually high ad I forgot to take my medications! 13% at one point! No harm done. Morestead road empty. Like the hill so much, I turned around at the bottom and did the return. That hill to the ship is a bitch! Thought I was gonna roll backwards at one point I was so slow!
Hope you had a good ride. I worked too hard to get cold ;)
take care

thx a lot, I'll have a nosey!! I did in the meantime create a course on mapmyride and downloaded it as a tcx file, as that seems to be the format for garmin. it's on my edge now ready to try out on Monday!
yes, those are local rides, rural shropshire has some lovely rides - fairly hilly in places though!
thanks, that would be great!! I'm sure it's something to do with the way I'm planning the rides, because I can see on the gps that I'm in the right place, it's just that the route I seemed to plan correctly on the internet is not recognising where I am and beeping at me to turn where I don't want to. I've got the garmin topo gb and city navigator cards, which are fine for what I need.
when you say CRS, does that mean you're planning them as courses? I've not tried that yet, I'm just saving them as gpx tracks. Wish the Garmin instructions included more info on creating routes!!
was also wondering maybe I've got the route settings wrong?
hope you don't mind me asking, saw you got an edge 605 on garmin!! do you plan routes on your's? I've been planing in bikehike.co.uk but when I try to ride them they go crazy saying I need to u-turn/turn right etc when I know I'm on the right route. I must be doing something dim!!
Yeah, didn't trust the satnav. I always do that. It gets me in so much trouble. I'll try it again when it's warmer. My toes were freezing! Lots of uphill, very little downhill.
Hi Rob,
Thought we would go to The trout at Martyr Worthy. via Upham - Cheriton - Alresford. Pace Av around 14MPH. Hopefully setting off between 10 - 12 on Sat? I could let you have my mobile no to firm up arrangements/definite time if you wish. Or happy if you have a better route/Pub (Nice ale at the Trout).
Regards,
Will
Thanks Rob. Yes back at work, and exercise is an important part of my rehab. I've only been out twice over Xmas. The rest of the time I have been sat on the turbo trainer! Hills are still a weakness. I have a nice route from CC - Upham - Cheriton - Alresford- Kings Worthy - Winchester - CC approx 27 miles, fairly quiet roads. Can take in the Trout PH at Martyr Worthy. Very pleasant ride. I was hoping yo do that in the next weekend or two if you're interested?
Hi Rob,
Prior to Oct, I was averaging around Low 16 almost 17MPH. But, unfortunately I suffered a stroke towards the end of Oct, and since then have been averaging about 13MPH (I feel as though I'm going pretty fast). Quite slow really. The Garmin 705 comes with some basic Maps installed, so haven't worked out whether I should get any more. Are these maps downloadable from any particular source?
No direct experience, CD. If you trawl the biking forums there is always the legend of a one armed cyclist doing oustandingly 'rad' things ! I am sure, from the way your mechanic was able to fix things, that this is not an uncommon problem.
I had the good fortune of meeting some 'Tweedies' last Sunday. Weskits and plusfours abounded. As the ambient temperature was only 4 degrees, I concluded their relaxed pace generated less wind chill than my triple layered approach. Perhaps there is…
Hi KH,
Brill photo - is it one of yours? Wouldn't mind betting it is. I hope it is hedge fund manager branching out in new direction since they deserve all they get. Gathered I'm down in dumps?? Was supposed to move to Mellis near Disds next Friday…
Isn't the technical issue whether its safer with or without, regardless of what speed the helmet happens to protect you at ? So they don't protect you at 30mph hitting a car, but they do protect you when you fall off embarrasingly when you forget to…
It's always worth being reminded of the dangers on the road but the thing is, I get rather p***d off with the media jumping on these sorts of bad news stories. When was the last time you read anything good about cycling??
Little wonder that people…
You know my thoughts on this!
It has been proved that helmets only protect the head in an accident where you or the car is traveling less than 13mph. (see CTC website). Furthermore, independent research shows that drivers actually give a wider bert…
